Raed Khoshaba was born in BAGHDAD (IRAQ). His love for music began in childhood; and so, he entered the institute of musical studies in Baghdad in the year 1985, where the actual beginning of his journey with the ud was. There, he became lessons from the most qualified musicians and obtained his high diploma in 1992 and was the first among his colleagues. Khoshaba belongs to a very unique and old school of ud playing. His music comes from the heart and the mind and is full of musical phrases which come from the heritage of the iraqi maqam through the art of improvisation (taqasim) and the other composition forms; thus proving his talent by using the technical aspect in playing which assured the intensity and beauty of the tone.

He went away from his country and gave ud concerts around the world where he presented the music he loved, studied and believed in, in a very unique and nice form whether as a solist or with the ensembles he created and/or played with; where he was fond of presenting his own style which has its roots in the iraqi school, as well as using a high poetic musiacl language in order to reach every human heart in the world.

Raed Khoshaba is not just a brilliant player; But like any other artist, human joys, sorrows and sufferings, the homeland and its affairs, love, beauty etc are very important sources of his inspiration.
