Oriental Jazz
A mixture of elements of European, Arabic, and jazz music has given life to an original, multicultural music: the oriental jazz.
The quarter tone is the characteristic of this typically oriental style.
The oriental instruments join themselves very harmoniously to the usual palette of typical jazz instruments. The musicians have succeeded in creating an “Occident-Orient” amalgam while mixing
some Americano-European rythms with an oriental instrumental performance.
A new “refreshing” jazz was born.
Jazz is a music based on the improvisation: the musician begins with a melody and then improvises. Improvisation is also the typical characteristic of the oriental music and makes its richness. The meeting of the two styles of music has created a new space that relieves composers and musicians: They have found a common musical language.
Alessandro Palmitessa the brilliant clarinetist and saxophonist as well as the percussionist Abdelali Jasouli join Raed Khoshaba (ud) in this nice project.
